Cookie Policy
How we use cookies on focusedunow.com and how you can control them.
Last updated: April 29, 2026
1. What Cookies Are
Cookies are small text files placed on your device when you visit a website. They are widely used to make sites work, remember preferences, and measure how visitors use the site so we can improve it.
2. How focusEDU Uses Cookies
focusedunow.com uses a small number of cookies. We do not use advertising, retargeting, or cross-site tracking cookies, and we do not sell personal information.
When you first visit our site you will see a cookie consent banner. Analytics cookies (Google Analytics 4) load by default to help us understand aggregate site usage so we can improve content for higher-education institutions (a CCPA opt-out model). You can opt out at any time by clicking Reject on the banner or by using the control. Browsers sending the Global Privacy Control signal are auto-opted-out before any analytics cookie is set.
3. Categories of Cookies We Use
Strictly Necessary
These are required for the website to function. They cannot be switched off in our systems and do not store personally identifiable information.
- cookie_consent — Records your choice on the cookie banner. 365-day expiry.
Analytics (default-on, opt-out)
We use Google Analytics 4 to measure aggregate site usage: which pages visitors view, where they came from, and how long they stay. Data is de-identified and used to improve content.
- _ga — Distinguishes unique users. 2-year expiry.
- _ga_<ID> — Persists session state for GA4. 2-year expiry.
If you click Reject on the cookie banner, these cookies are deleted from your browser and Google Analytics stops collecting data for your session.
4. Google Analytics Consent Mode v2
focusEDU uses Google Consent Mode v2. The default state is: analytics_storage granted; ad_storage, ad_user_data, and ad_personalization all denied. Advertising signals are never granted on this site.
If you click Reject, we transmit an “update” signal that denies analytics_storage and Google Analytics stops collecting events for your session. Browsers sending the Global Privacy Control header are auto-denied before any analytics request fires.
5. Your Rights Under U.S. Privacy Laws
focusEDU honors the rights granted by U.S. state privacy laws including the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA/CPRA), the Virginia Consumer Data Protection Act (VCDPA), the Colorado Privacy Act (CPA), and similar statutes in other states. You have the right to access, correct, or delete the personal information we hold about you, and to opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information. focusEDU does not sell personal information.
6. Changing Your Preferences
You can change your cookie preferences at any time using the control above, or by clearing the cookie_consent cookie in your browser to re-trigger the banner.
